One of America’s most historic train stations, Kansas City’s Union Station, was about to reach its 100th year anniversary. But with declining foot traffic, Union Station needed to remind people why it was worth celebrating.

We filmed reenactments of the station’s most historical events and created an augmented reality app that allows visitors to travel back in time and come face to face with history.  They could even put themselves in the scenes and share them on social media.

Union Station experienced foot traffic not seen since its days as an operational train station. During opening weekend there were more than 30,000 in-app interactions, with visitors spending an average of one hour reliving history.

What started as an app is now a permanent attraction, drawing visitors to step into the past.
